Oleksandra Hrybenko is a PhD Candidate at the Department of Journalism and Media Studies at OsloMet. She is researching the risks women journalists face reporting on the war in Ukraine and their resilience. Previously she worked with human rights and media freedom as a Junior Officer at the OSCE headquarters in Austria, and the field mission in Moldova.

Between 2014 and 2018, Oleksandra worked as a freelance journalist for international media reporting on the war in Eastern Ukraine, including the Russian-occupied Donetsk where she is originally from. She has an international Master’s Degree in Journalism from Aarhus University. Her thesis focused on strategic disinformation narratives in the Russian media coverage of protests in Ukraine in 2013-2014.
